Highlights 1954-1970
The company was founded by Rudolf Bohnacker in 1954 in Blaubeuren. After the successful first few years following its formation, in 1959 the company moved into a newly opened plant in Rottenacker, which offered scope for further expansion. In 1961, the company launched its own machine tool division, paving the way for its development to become the Bohnacker Systeme we know today. When the first 500-ton press was commissioned by the Bohnacker Systeme in 1968, it was possible to process the raw material for uprights and brackets directly off the steel coil. Today, two fully automatic rail production lines form the nerve centre of the company's production, each fitted with a 1000-ton press, a powder coating plant and a packaging line.
Highlights 1971-1985
In 1971, the company took delivery of its first immersion coating plant, permitting the automated and differentiated surface coating of metals. 1977 saw direct connection of the company site to the European rail network. This represented a major step forward not only in the achievement of a comprehensive distribution network, but also towards environmental protection and the sparing use of natural resources. Another milestone was reached in the achievement of environmental protection, automation and higher productivity with the commissioning of a state-of-the-art environmentally friendly powder coating plant in 1985.
Highlights 1986-2001
1986 saw an important milestone in our corporate history with the spin-off of our own internal tooling department to form an independent company by the name of Werkzeug- & Maschinenbau GmbH (WMB). The first fully automatic production facilities were commissioned in 1990, and initial steps were taken towards developing Central and Eastern European Markets. We took over and launched our Csót production plant in Hungary as early as 1992. Today, this facility employs a workforce of around 200 in an operation equipped with state-of-the-art technology after launching in 1993 with a team of just 15 employees. This branch of our company represents a key element of our production network. The company was certified to DIN EN ISO 9001 back in 1999, and in 2001 adopted the SAP system, integrating the entire information systems and business processes of all the subsidiaries, customers and suppliers.
Highlights 2002-2007
The Bohnacker Systeme was reformed in the years 2002-2003 and the corporate structure optimized for greater profitability. Direct sales in the German home market were stepped up, growth markets in Central and Eastern Europe as well as Asia were developed and the product range updated and upgraded to take in the decorative and home furnishing sectors. In 2003, the company received the German Foreign Trade Award 2003 for its impressive competitive performance, for its outstanding export achievements and its domestic employment record. This award is only conferred once every two years, and this was the first time that it had been won by a company from Baden-Württemberg. In May 2004, the company celebrated its 50-year anniversary in the presence of Baden-Württemberg's Minister of Economics and other prestigious guests. A new corporate and image video completed at the end of 2005 bagged the company no fewer than four awards at international media festivals in 2006: The PLATINUM Award 2006 in Houston/USA , two SILVER Awards 2006 in Chicago/USA and Hamburg/D, as well as the BRONZE Award 2006 in Munich (Germany). July 2006 saw the Bohnacker Systeme celebrating a very special production jubilee which brought the head of Germany's CDU/CSU parliamentary group Volker Kauder all the way Rottenacker: This was the day on which the company produced its 1 billionth bracket and its 300 millionth steel upright. On 1st October 2008, the company changed its name to Bohnacker Systeme GmbH. The brands Element-System, Trend System and shoptec were given an image makeover to reflect changing global circumstances by adopting a new, international corporate design.
